Jan 2024

McLean, Va. – 3-A Sanitary Standards, Inc. (3-A SSI), the leading resource on hygienic equipment design for food, beverage and pharmaceutical processing, today announced that two highly regarded organizations in food safety have agreed to participate in 3-ASSI as Affiliate Members:

·       The Institute for Food Safety and Health (IFSH), a one-of-a-kind applied food science research consortium comprised of the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT),the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and the food industry; and

·       The American Spice Trade Association, Inc., which represents the U.S. spice industry in the global market, prioritizing the supply of pure, safe spice to American consumers.

“3-A SSI Affiliate Members are forward-looking organizations that share a commitment to advancing food and product safety through hygienic design,” says Tim Rugh, executive director of 3-A SSI. “They recognize the need to embrace proven and trusted cross-industry hygienic design criteria for processing equipment and practices.”

This new class of 3-A SSI membership was created to associate select allied not-for-profit organizations in food, beverage and pharmaceutical industries as participants in 3-A SSI’s collaborative platform. Affiliate Members may gain full access to 3-A SSI Knowledge Resources and authorities, participate in 3-A working groups and committees, and otherwise collaborate in expanding valuable new products or programs to raise recognition of the role of hygienic equipment design in food safety.

Drawing upon the specialized equipment knowledge of 3-ASSI, Affiliate Member organizations have a unique opportunity to lead the development of specialized education and training programs to meet the needs of their members. This includes participation on key committees that plan the annual 3-A SSI Summit on Hygienic Design. Members of 3-A SSI Affiliate Member organizations also benefit from reduced registration fees for the Summit, which will take place May 7-9 at the Marriott Chicago O’Hare.

This membership is offered exclusively to not-for-profit associations (not individuals or companies). See details on the 3-A SSI website or contact 3-A SSI at (703) 790-0295 or by email.
